Dengue Cases in Pakistan’s Punjab Hit 3,917
The provincial capital, Lahore, accounted for 15 of the new cases, bringing the city's cumulative tally to 708, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir confirmed.
Cautioning about a potential surge in infections this year, the minister urged residents to take preventive measures. "Household fumigation and the use of protective lotions" are among the recommended actions.
He added that dengue surveillance efforts have been stepped up, with mosquito larvae being eliminated on an emergency basis.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department issued a high-risk dengue warning for the period from Sept. 20 to early December, citing favorable weather conditions and extensive flooding as factors likely to accelerate disease transmission.
The department highlighted that dengue has increasingly become a recurring public health concern, typically intensifying after the monsoon season.
